Kibale National Park

Western Uganda is home to Kibale National Park. It’s one of the great destinations to track chimpanzees. There’s a forest that adjoins both Kibale and Queen Elizabeth National Park. It creates a green corridor which is a great safari and ecotourism destination.

The nearest airport is Entebbe International Airport (EBB). It’s close (about 45 km.) to the capital city of Kampala.

Ideal Months to visit Kibale National Park

Game viewing in the park is available at any time of the year. But, the best months to visit are from June to September and December to February. The trekking trails won’t be slippery and will make spotting chimpanzees easier.

March to May and August to November are great months for birdwatching. And, the surroundings are also incredible.

Wildlife of Kibale National Park

There are several species of primates in Kibale National Park. They include chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and Ugandan mangabey.

There are many mammals in the park as well. Like bushbucks, sitatungas, bushpigs, warthogs, duikers, giant forest hogs, cape buffaloes, etc.

The predator population in the park includes African golden cats, servals, leopards, and otters. A few lions can also be seen on occasion.
