Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park is the closest national park from Arusha town. Located only 30km from Arusha and about 32km from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) it is one of the rewarding park for safari in the northern circuit. From the entrance gate on the southern part of the park, the road leads into shadowy montane forest the habitat of inquisitive blue monkeys and the only place on the northern safari circuit where the acrobatic black and white Colobus monkey is easily seen. It is a small park but with varied spectacular landscapes in three distinct zones. From the west, lies Meru Crater which is the source of Jekukumia River; the Mount Meru lies on its rim, Ngurdoto Crater in the south east and the shallow alkaline Momella Lakes in the north-east have varying algal colours and are known for its Flamingos.
