Ruaha National Park Overview
Ruaha National Park is the second largest Park in Tanzania with an area of about 22,000 km². The location is about 130 km from Iringa town in the middle of Tanzania. this is part of extensive ecosystem which includes Rungwa Game Reserve, Usangu Game Reserve, and several other protected areas in the southwest.
The park derived its name from the Great Ruaha River, that flows along its south-eastern margin and is the focus for game-viewing. This National Park is famous for larger population of Elephants and about 10.000 have been roaming around this park. Ruaha National Park is also a paradise for birdwatchers and about 476 species have been recorded.
